Google aims to help PPC advertisers with new tool
19/11/2008
Google has announced the release of a new application to help pay-per-click (PPC) advertisers hunt down potentially useful keywords that they do not already use.
Marketers use the Search-based Keyword Tool by inputting the URL of their website and setting the application to scan these pages and compare the content with popular related searches.
If the user is an AdWords customer, the tool can return a list of the most relevant keywords that have been missed by the PPC advertiser in question. For those who do not use AdWords, the tool could have other benefits, according to Trevor Claiborne of Google.
"For example, a shoe store could discover which footwear styles users are searching for, or a digital camera blog could decide which cameras to review by looking at which camera models attract the most queries," he wrote on the Inside AdWords blog.
Other popular keyword research applications currently available include Google Trends, MSN Keyword Forecast, WordTracker and Keyword Discovery.
